In fact, the tendency with\u00a0pharmaceutical pain relief\u00a0is for the body to become more and more accustomed to the drugs so that higher and higher doses are required &#8211; which brings with it unpleasant side-effects. Not so acupuncture. A recent research paper (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/27764035\">https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/27764035<\/a>)\u00a0on chronic pain has shown that\u00a0approximately 90 per cent of the benefits of acupuncture still remains even a year after finishing a course of treatment.
